How "Sew Sassy" got started...

I was in search of a fun, retro apron. Difficult to say the least...

And when I found that apron I was shocked to learn it was out of my price range. So what's a girl to do?! SEW (of course)!

I love to craft and have been for a big part of my life. I've knitted scarves and blankets for loved ones. I've painted and created ornaments during the holidays. So why not sew (which I haven't done for at least 20 years). But like I told a friend "It's just like riding a bicycle", kinda. :)

After I created my first apron, I decided I would make some as gifts. And as that gift list grew, and friends saw the aprons that I created, they started inquiring if I would sell them?

I found myself contemplating "Why not"?

"Sew Sassy" is the outcome of my efforts in sharing unique retro aprons with those who enjoy color, creativity, and one-of-a-kind aprons that are sure to make you smile.

If you have an idea, favorite color(s), hobby or passion and would be interested in a retro apron created JUST FOR YOU; then send me an e-mail and I'll do my best to put something together that will sure to please you or that hostess with the mostess.

Busyness & Sew Sassy Apron Creations

It's been awhile since I last posted here.

I suppose with the busyness of my life, I find it faster to post straight to my Sew Sassy Facebook Page.  However, realizing that certainly isn't a very good excuse not to blog/post periodically here.

Sew...I wanted to share some pics of a very "special" Sew Sassy Apron Creation collaboration (mouthful) I completed recently for a lovely lady in Louisiana.  She's a teacher and wanted some "Utility" aprons to wear in her classroom.  She also has a passion for aprons (like many), and requested a few full aprons.

(Did you know that if you order five (5) "custom" or "already made" aprons you get the 6th one free? You can learn more by clicking here.)

Now... on with the share!

I have a new gift "Custom Apron Collaboration" that will be posted soon for a young couple that's getting married (soon!).  And they love their basketball.  He loves the Suns.  She loves the Lakers.  Keep an eye out for more pics in the coming month.

Merchant Aprons - a fun, new addition

So I've been off the radar lately with aprons.  Seems like "Life" has stepped "in front" of my desire to create.

But luckily I've had a little jolt of creative juice and whipped together this "one of a kind" Merchant Apron for my friend, Gina at Lizzy B's.  She's a real "class act" so I needed to find a fabric I thought would fit right in with her style.

This little apron is the end result (what do you think?).

So grateful for reasons to create.  I've missed this part of my life.

Guess I should follow my own advice...

Custom Apron Creation - 101

Ever wonder how Custom Apron Creations evolve?  Wonder what your one-of-a-kind Apron might look like?

Well, here's the "quick & easy".

Step #1:   Tell me your 2 favorite colors?

Step #2:   Tell me 1-2 likes?

Hobbies: Cooking, Wine Tasting, Fishing, etc.

Sports:   Baseball, Soccer, Football, etc.

Holidays:  Halloween, Thanksgiving, Valentines, etc.

Collect:  Tea Cups, Clocks, Purses, etc.

Animals:  Birds, Horses, Dogs, etc.

Shapes:  Hearts, Stars, etc.

Travel:  Paris, Italy, the Great Outdoors

The possibilities are endless...

Step #3:   Let me pick the fabric combos.

I'll send you a few pictures and you make the final choice.  Or simply "live on the apron edge" and be surprised with the fabric I choose for you.

Example:

Fave Color - Purple.  Hobby - Love canning fruit.  And "Voila", the finished apron.

Tie in the front ...

...or tie in the back.

It's just that easy!

With the Holidays just around the corner, wouldn't it be great to have an apron to wear while you host?  Or better yet, buy that "special someone" a one-of-a-kind, "made especially for" Apron gift.   Just a little something to think about.

Don't forget; 20% of my sales goes back to Saddleback and the Food Pantry "Helping feed local families in need"

From Fabric, an Apron is Born

When you choose one of the fabric combinations, have confidence! Try to imagine what your custom apron might look like.

Sure, you might "FEEL" like you're taking a leap of faith...but that's okay.

Just remember, I already know what it will look like; and in some cases it comes out better than what I imagined (which is a very good thing). I sure would hate for it to come out worse - LoL!

How this works...
Step 1:

Make a selection from my many fabric combinations (or you can find something on your own).

Step 2:
I make an apron from the fabric you choose. And, "Wah-Lah"!

Above - "A Very Brady Apron"

Hey! What's this?

Yes - it even comes with it's own matching storage/gift bag.

It's as simple as 1-2-3!

Care to try?

Aprons with Attitude

These aprons were created for a boutique in LA this weekend. One sold even before the show.

If any of the others come back "unsold"; I will list them here.

Halloween Queen - SOLD!!!

BOO! tiful

SOLD!

Gobble til' you Wobble

Harvest Time

I felt like I was cramming for finals to get these completed in less than a week.

It was still fun.

This little spooky beauty I created for a friend. It didn't take much time at all because it wasn't the pattern I normally use. It was a pattern within the fabric. Super Simple!

BUBBLE-lishious

Custom Apron for Dana and Abracadabra Soap Co.

Click on the photo to enlarge...

I searched high and low for some fun Soap related fabric. Not an easy task. But I found some with lovely details of Lavendar / Chamomille / Jasmine / Rose. Vintage bathtubs, too.

Including the soft colors of purple/gold/green/rose and ivory.

The Apron bag has a soft blue cameo button detailing a woman's beauty.

If you're looking for hand crafted soaps I highly suggest you check out Dana's Storefront at Abracadabra Soap Co.

Thanks Dana for the opportunity.

Enjoy!
